Pole Star is pleased to be providing Albania with LRIT NDC/ASP as part of the country’s first entry into LRIT for their flag. Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) is an international tracking and identification system incorporated by the IMO under its Safety of Lives at Sea (SOLAS) convention to ensure a thorough tracking system for ships across the world.
Albania initiated its LRIT development strategy in 2017. In the space of two years they have established their flag under LRIT and doubled their standard reporting rates for all domestic vessels from 4 to 8 per day, alongside obtaining annual CTR testing and issuance.
Recently, Ben Minichino, Pole Star's Global Head of Government & Maritime, accompanied Mr. Pavlin Ndreu, General Director for the General Maritime Directorate, for meetings in the US.
Pole Star's Government & Maritime team, with a delegation from Albania General Maritime Directorate, visited Washington DC for meetings with the US Pentagon and with the US Coast Guard's Navigation Center. The topic was to discuss Albania's exceptional accomplishments and actions undertaken by the General Maritime Directorate to enhance the safety and security of the Albanian Maritime remit and the Albanian seafarers.
