Pole Star, the leading provider of ship-centric maritime safety and regulatory compliance solutions - has entered into a technology sharing partnership with Globavista Limited - the owner of the BigOceanData (BOD) AIS-based vessel tracking portal - to cooperate on a Maritime Domain Awareness / Advanced AIS Analytics technology initiative.
Under the terms of the Technology Supply Agreement Pole Star will deploy elements of the BOD AIS portal as part of its broader initiative to supply innovative Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) solutions to key customers around the globe.
In addition to collaborating on the development of a comprehensive AIS analytics toolkit, the cooperation will extend to the integration of other satellite and terrestrial tracking technologies into the Pole Star MDA solution, and also extend to a joint commercial approach to various emerging coastal surveillance, fisheries VMS, and offshore oilfield management programs.
Julian Longson, Managing Director of Pole Star, says: “The collaboration between Pole Star and Globavista brings together two established firms having well-recognised brands standing for innovation and quality. Our collaboration will benefit our existing and future clients through accelerated product development, innovation, and integration of advanced AIS analytics.”
Mark Hewish, Managing Director of Globavista, is delighted with the signing of the new agreement. He says, “Pole Star is widely recognised as a global leader in the vessel fleet management industry and we are proud to have been chosen to share technology in this way. As the integration of ‘Big Data’ becomes more relevant in the maritime industry so close cooperation between solution providers becomes more important. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with the Pole Star team.”
