Pole Star Appoints Chief Revenue Officer to Drive Expansion

Appointment of Erik Gilder as new CRO sets the stage for a new phase in Pole Star’s growth following investment.

London, 3 August 2021

Pole Star, the global leader in maritime intelligence for vessel-tracking, sanctions screening and regulatory technology, is pleased to announce the appointment of Erik Gilder as its Chief Revenue Officer.

In his new role, Gilder will spearhead Pole Star’s continued expansion following successful growth investment in April.

Previously Managing Director for North America at Sovos Compliance where he was the global practice lead for sales, Gilder has more than 20 years’ sales experience, most of which has been spent managing teams and selling compliance-based SaaS solutions to financial institutions, insurance companies and corporations.

Under Gilder’s leadership, Sovos exceeded revenue targets for the last seven years. The company grew from 38M in revenue to over 300M while successfully executing two PE-backed exits.

He said: “It’s extremely exciting to work for Pole Star – a high-growth company with unlimited potential where my aim is to build a world-class sales organisation. I’m proud to be part of a company that helps protect human lives and the environment, while making the maritime industry and associated supply chains more transparent and efficient, bringing huge value to banks, corporates, carriers and everyone involved in international trade.”

“The appointment of Erik as our new Chief Revenue Officer marks our determination to expand on the back of our successful funding injection in April,” said Julian Longson, CEO of Pole Star. “Erik has the qualities, the energy and the experience we need to push forward our growth as global maritime trade enters a new phase of increased digitalisation, with far greater emphasis on sustainability and transparency. His track record in compliance solutions is a perfect fit for Pole Star, as we enable customers to meet a wide array of evolving regulations that cover everything from sanctions and money laundering to emissions reductions and environmental degradation.”
