September – Product Release Notes

PurpleTRAC (Maritime Risk & Compliance)

Ship status screening

What’s new:

  • Customers can now be alerted when the vessel being screened has an inactive status, for example, Total Loss, Broken Up.

Why it Matters

  • This helps detect scrapped vessels that have their identity taken on to appear legitimate and avoid scrutiny from authorities but are still moving and making port calls.

Unknown P&I Club screening

What’s new:

  • Vessel screening now includes a check for an unknown P&I club. The risk severity is applied in accordance to the account’s setting to alert the user that the identity of the P&I club is not known.

Why it Matters:

  • The identity of a P&I club is important when determining the legitimacy of a claim. An unknown P&I club can increase the exposure to risk as it may be involved in sanctions violations resulting in invalid insurance cover and liability issues.

Company association enhancement: Customizable severity for unknowns

What’s new:

  • An account configuration has been introduced to apply specific severities to the associated companies’ country of registration, domicile and country of control if it is not known at the time of vessel screening.

Why it Matters:

  • Previously, the unknown severity setting for the account would apply the same severity to all the unknown countries. Now, the unknown severity escalations are based on each of the company associations’ country of registration, domicile and country of control. For example, a warning status can be applied for an unknown country for the Group Beneficial Owner and Registered Owner, but other associations such as Ship Manager or Technical Manager can have a lower severity applied.
