Registration Endpoint Update to Apply IMO Validation Logic

What’s new

API requests to register a vessel can now be validated to confirm that the IMO number provided is valid. This update is designed to improve data integrity and streamline the compliance screening process.

An invalid IMO number will return the following response:

Why it matters

  • Prevents transactions from being generated with invalid IMO numbers
  • Avoids transactions being delayed in pre-registration status
  • Improves overall data quality and processing efficiency
  • Enhances reliability and accuracy in the workflow

Berth Calls by Port API — Berth-Level Event Tracking

What’s new

  • A new Berth Calls by Port endpoint returns berth arrival and berth departure events for individual ports across a specified time period.
  • Each berth event includes berth name and unique berth ID.
  • Enables tracking from port approach through to specific berth locations.

For technical documentation, refer to our developer portal.

Why it matters

  • Unlocks accurate berth-level dwell time analysis.
  • Improves terminal utilisation and congestion visibility.
  • Enables more precise ETA modelling and operational performance tracking.
  • Supports better berth allocation planning for ports.
  • Enhances supply chain predictability and demurrage cost management.

Meridia

Inbound Vessels in Ports View

What’s new

Meridia now provides comprehensive visibility into vessels approaching your ports and zones. The new Inbound Vessels capability spans the entire Meridia interface:

  • Events Tab: Dedicated “Inbound” section with flexible time filtering (next 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days) lets you focus on immediate arrivals or plan ahead. Sort, configure columns, and export data for offline analysis.
  • Map View: Inbound vessels appear as teal markers on your port overview map (distinct from orange in-port vessels), providing instant visual awareness of approaching traffic.
  • Quick Access Panels: “Vessels Inbound” expanding section on the Overview page shows at-a-glance counts with time-filtered vessel lists and one-click navigation to full details.
  • The Inbound Vessel data is also available via the Insights APIs.

For technical documentation, refer to our developer portal.

Why it matters

Port authorities and maritime security teams can now proactively plan operations based on predicted arrivals rather than reacting to vessels after they arrive. The flexible time filtering lets you adjust your planning horizon on the fly — focus on immediate arrivals in the next 24 hours for operational readiness, or view the next 7–30 days for strategic resource planning.

This transforms Meridia from a historical visualisation tool into an operational command centre for port intelligence, enabling better berth allocation, pilot deployment, security screening, and resource management. The independent filtering on the Events tab means you can analyse future arrivals without affecting your historical event monitoring workflow.

Search Enhancements

What’s new

  • Ports, Zones and Vessels can now be searched for independently from each other, and filters have been introduced to reduce the number of irrelevant results.
  • Ports can be filtered by country and sub type. Zones by country, type and sub type. Vessels by flag, type and status.
  • Ports can now be searched by UNLOCODE and WPI Number, and vessels by callsign and MMSI number (in addition to name and IMO number).

Why it matters

The search feature in Meridia is a core component of the workflows. Reducing search results to what is relevant significantly speeds up these workflows.

VMS Fleet Management – Replace and Transfer Hardware

What’s new

  • VMS Fleet Management now supports replacing and transferring VMS hardware between vessels through a guided workflow.
  • Users can remove a device from a vessel and assign a different unit, or move an existing device from one vessel to another, without creating duplicate vessel records.
  • When hardware is replaced, the previous unit is detached from the vessel and retained in the system, while the vessel continues with the newly assigned device and its existing configuration and history.

Why it matters

  • Reflects real-world hardware changes (failure, upgrade, reallocation) without disrupting vessel records
  • Avoids duplicate or conflicting hardware assignments when devices move between vessels
  • Preserves vessel history and configuration while clearly tracking which device was active and when
  • Simplifies hardware lifecycle management across the fleet as units are swapped or reassigned

Coming Up

Meridia

Get ready for advanced vessel traffic analytics, real-time email notifications for critical port and zone events, and detailed berth-level arrival and departure data. These upgrades will make congestion analysis, operational planning, and event tracking faster and easier.

Maritime Transparency Index (MTI)

New API features will allow real-time score retrieval, category-level breakdowns, and bulk analysis for large fleets. Expanded transparency scores, including environmental and sanctions risk, will strengthen compliance and sustainability assessments. Stakeholders will gain better tools for decision making.
