Charter party compliance depends on getting the details right: benchmarks set correctly, speed and fuel measured consistently, and problems spotted while there is still time to act.
Podium’s Charter Party Compliance (CPC) module now makes that easier. Customers can set up benchmarks faster, analyse performance with more confidence, and stay informed without checking dashboards by hand.
Here is what that means in practice.
Set up benchmarks faster
Configuring benchmarks across a large fleet no longer has to mean days of manual entry. Customers can now:
- Upload fuel benchmarks in bulk. Add or update benchmarks across many vessels and voyages in a single action, using a standard Excel template. The file is checked for missing fields, invalid values, duplicates, and conflicting entries before anything is imported, so errors can be corrected before they reach your data.
- Configure voyages more precisely. Voyages can be created automatically on each transit or condition change, speed-consumption warrants can be interpolated between defined benchmark speeds, weather handling can be tuned to match the charter, and steaming hours can be omitted where the charter requires it.
Analyse performance with more confidence
Compliance decisions depend on the numbers behind them. Customers can now:
- Check fuel against the right limits. Fuel calculations follow the GAZ Energy methodology, which is aligned with English case law. Podium calculates upper and lower warranted consumption limits with the standard allowance, and shows over- or under-consumption at segment level for each day.
- Classify speed performance clearly. Each voyage segment is marked as Time Gain, Time Loss, or In Range against the charter party speed. You can set independent upper and lower limits in knots or as a percentage, and a preview shows the allowable range before you save a change.
- Share reports without manual work. Voyage performance reports include new speed and fuel analysis tabs, seven charts covering key performance indicators over the voyage, and PDF export alongside Excel.
Stay informed without the manual checks
Waiting until the end of a voyage to discover a problem leaves little room to act. Customers can now:
- Send performance summaries automatically. Daily performance emails go to the people who need them, on a schedule you set. You can also send an on-demand summary for any vessel and recipient at any time.
- Learn about breaches during the voyage. CPC breach notifications alert the relevant people when a segment-level breach is detected. The four breach types covered are speed, fuel consumption, adverse weather, and geo zone. Each alert shows the deviation, such as time lost or gained, tonnes over or under, or the zone name, and is delivered by email or SMS through your existing Vessel Rules setup.
- See the whole fleet at once. CPC period summaries give a fleet-wide view of compliance across any date range of up to two years, filtered by vessel, vessel group, charter party criteria, or individual selection.

Together, these capabilities help customers spend less time on setup and reporting, and more time on the decisions that matter: where a vessel is underperforming, what to raise with a charterer, and how to protect the commercial outcome of a voyage.
